Message from DNSW President
Dear NSW dressage riders and DNSW members
Following the recent communication to members about the DNSW decision to wind back 'club level' events at Clarendon by the end of 2022, the attached FAQs may help DNSW members in particular, and all dressage riders in NSW, understand the decision and how it came to be made.
To summarise the background, as you may be aware, in early 2022, DNSW undertook a Strategic Planning Review. After this Review, the DNSW Committee formed the view that DNSW should renew its priorities as a State Dressage Authority (SDA) with a Whole of Sport/Whole of State focus. The DNSW Committee has a vision of inclusion for all, no matter who you are, or where you live.
Subsequent to the Strategic Planning Meetings, a series of professionally facilitated 'Clarendon Focus Group' meetings were held. Following robust and rigorous interrogation of the facts, the Focus Group reluctantly but unanimously determined that monthly Clarendon events were not sustainable for DNSW, and should no longer take priority over development of the sport in NSW.
As volunteers with a passion for dressage, the Committee has no wish to stand in the way of others electing to focus on running club level events in the Hawkesbury basin. The current Committee believes an ideal resolution is for another club or clubs to run competitions at Clarendon should this be agreed by HDAA. DNSW looks forward to providing further clarity for members following discussions with HDAA.
HDAA has yet to give DNSW a timeline for the meeting, and with many of the Committee working to deliver a successful NSW State Championship event, further information may not be available until after this event. In the meantime, I hope the FAQs provide a broader understanding of the circumstances leading to the decision.
