The NSW Dressage Championships returns to Tamworth

The European Championships are underway in Rotterdam, the Netherlands but closer to home our attention this week will be on the regional town of Tamworth and the NSW Dressage Championships.

Ten years ago, in 2009 & 2010 the NSW Dressage Championships were held in a regional area at the Australian Equine & Livestock Events Centre (AELEC).  Since then the championships have been held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. 

The Horse First 2019 NSW Dressage Championships, hosted by the Tamworth Dressage Club, will be held over 5 days from Wednesday, 21 August through to Sunday, 25 August.   

A full programme of competitions including Open competitions from Preliminary through to Grand Prix level, Amateur Owner Rider, Pony and Para-Equestrian. 

Entries are huge with over 280 horses and 216 riders taking part. The Organisers extended the competition programme  to 4.5 days to accommodate the numbers.  

Competitors from all over NSW are travelling up to the North West along with a strong contingent from Queensland joined by representatives from Victoria.  Some of Australia's leading riders are taking part including World Equestrian Games reprentative Brett Parbery.

Good luck to all competitors, owners and connections and special thanks to the Tamworth Dressage Club under the direction of Marjolyn Thomas for pulling these Championships together. It is shaping up to be a memorable event.

Sunday High Tea

Enjoy watching the Grand Prix Freestyle while enjoying a fabulous High Teas from a front row seat.  Cost is $60 (adult), $25 (child under 16 years).  Includes hot/cold food selection,  juice, wine, champagne and tea/coffee.  Bookings essential, details on the Taworth Dressage Club website.
